Update April 1, 2004:
Department of Education proposes
amendment to HB 1238.

HB 1503: Provides relative to minimum scores on specified standardized
tests
that are required of certain home study students to be eligible for TOPS
awards.
Proposed law provides that a home study student shall have a composite ACT
score (or equivalent SAT score) which is the *same* as required for a
student graduating from a La. public high school or BESE-approved nonpublic
school.

735 and SB 582: Changes to election code. Students 17
years of age.
Proposed legislation allows for public school students, BESE approved private
school students, and BESE approved Home-Study students to serve as commissioners.
Excludes private school students in a non-BESE approved private schools from
serving as commissioners.
